No 1 - Animating text to appear one item at a time

Start a new presentation.

On a blank slide, use the Insert menu to choose the Text Box insertion cursor. (Or you can click the text box button on the bottom toolbar)

Use your mouse to drag out the text box on your new slide.

Now - Use the SlideShow menu to choose 'Custom Animation'

Then..click the border of the text box, and then click the 'Add Effect' button

Then...choose Entrance and choose the 'Wipe' effect

The default direction will be from the bottom up.  To assist readers, a wipe from left to right is easiest to follow.  Click the direction button and select. 'From left'

Now. To ensure that each line enters one at a time, double click the action in the animation list.

Text Box: You should then see a box like the one at the left
Text Box: Double click here

Click the 'Text Animation' tab

Click to select 'By 1st level paragraphs'

This should now mean that your text will enter line by line as you click the mouse.  You can also use this same dialogue to set different speeds, timing options etc.  This Custom Animation feature gives you a lot of flexibility in designing the way that your presentation displays.
