Click the logo above to go to the download site for this free product.  Once installed , it can be set to activate at startup and you can select to 'Stand By'  This means that, any time you would like to capture a part of what you can see on your screen, all you need to do is to hit F6 and cross hairs will appear which will allow you to select a part of the screen to be captured.

Click the logo above to go to the download site for Audacity, a great free application for working with audio files.  This is a place where you can edit existing sound files, join smaller clips, convert some formats etc etc.  You can also record analogue signals and save them as mp3.  This may be especially useful in converting material which is currently held on cassette.

This free utility will enable you to convert videos which may have been downloaded from YouTube in Flash (.flv) format,  Video can be converted to wmv format which means that it is then possible to edit them using MovieMaker in XP.

This is one of many sites which enable you to enter the URL for a YouTube video and which will then download the video as a Flash file.

The result will be a file in .flv format

A free player which will play .flv video.
