With regard to commercial markets we
are seeking to identify schools whose facilities are regularly used
for markets where sellers offer goods for sale to the public and pay
a fee to a market operation or promoter. We understand that
‘Growers Markets’ and ‘Weekend Markets’ would generally
be caught by this definition. We are not seeking to identify
school fetes, P&C operated car boot sales, or irregular (e.g. twice
a year) community markets run by local charities or school community
fund raisers.
With regard to commercial out of school
hours (OOSH) centres, we are seeking to identify schools at
which a for-profit service provider operates an OOSH program that is
intended to generate profit for the owner and/or operator. We are
not seeking to identify OOSH operations run by community groups,
parents or voluntary associations which do not make a profit or
where any surplus is directed back into improving the operation of
the program.
With regard to joint use arrangements for
playing fields, we are seeking to identify situations where
schools have joined with local government or sporting
clubs/associations to develop and maintain a playing field on the
understanding that sporting associations, either directly or through
the local council, will have access on weekends or for evening
training.
